Tavily sells API credits: 1,000 free a month, $0.008 each pay as you go, or $0.005 to $0.0075 on monthly plans from $30 to $500. A basic search uses 1 credit, so 1,000 searches cost $5.00 to $8.00; an advanced search uses 2, $10.00 to $16.00. For 10,000 basic searches a month the cheapest way is the Project plan: $30 a month with 4,000 searches, then $8.00 per 1,000, $78 in all.

A search returns up to 20 results whatever its depth; asking for each page's cleaned content or an LLM answer doesn't change the credits, which depend on the search depth alone.

How much does Tavily Extract cost?
Every 5 successful URLs cost 1 credit with basic extraction and 2 with advanced, so 1,000 URLs are 200 or 400 credits: $1.60 or $3.20 pay as you go, $1.00 or $2.00 on Growth. You never get charged if a URL extraction fails.
How much does Tavily Research cost?
Between a minimum and a maximum per request: 4 to 110 credits with model=mini ($0.032 to $0.88 pay as you go) and 15 to 250 with model=pro ($0.12 to $2).
Is Tavily cheaper than Exa?
It depends on volume. 10,000 searches a month cost $78 on Tavily and $70 on Exa (its default auto search); 100,000 cost $500 and $700. Exa's instant search costs $4.00 per 1,000 at any volume.
